PRF is an acronym for platelet-rich fibrin, which contains healing platelets, various growth factors, and leukocytes in a complex fibrin matrix. (I know- sounds like a lot!)
It is created by taking a blood sample and placing it in a centrifuge (a container that separates fluids) for approximately 10 minutes to separate out the various elements of the blood.
PRF releases growth factors that last 14 day longer than most treatments. This means that PRF has longer lasting benefits. The growth factors in PRF stimulate stem cells to improve collagen and elastin in the skin. The platelets in PRF promote faster healing as well.
After your blood is drawn and centrifuged, PRF is immediately ready for injection into the face to fill facial folds and wrinkles, plump the hollows under the eyes, and improve skin tone and texture. The PRF can also be injected into the scalp to aid with hair restoration and growth.
PRF candidates are seeking smoother, younger, firmer skin. PRF skin rejuvenation has been shown to provide rejuvenating effects for the skin by boosting collagen production and improving skin elasticity.
Specifically, PRF injections work great to upgrade soft facial tissue – like the thin skin under your eyes. Applying PRF underneath the eyes can improve skin texture and tone plus reduce fine lines. Initially, the injection even acts as a temporary volumizer relieving under eye sunken look.
